December 18th

Well this has been very busy week already hasn't it? I am so proud of my home room class and all the hard work they put in organizing the Christmas Hamper. It turned out very well and I am sure the girls will be pleased with their presents.

Here are the last of the reminders for the week before Christmas Holidays.

Bio 20- Tomorrow we will do the notes on Phylum Aves (birds) and then Friday we will watch the video.

Bio 30- Tomorrow we will do the notes on Meiosis and then on Friday we will watch a video. Don't forget your snacks!!

Sci 90- Tomorrow is your test. Please have your Interactive Notebook ready to be handed in. Friday we will watch videos for the new unit.

Friday December 13th...

Wow time flies. Sorry all that I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. The busy-ness of the holiday season is getting to me as I am sure it is for all of you as well. I did however want to give you a few reminders to help you keep up with it all.

Bio 20- You should have no homework. On Monday we will dissect the perch and continue on learning about all the vertebrates. Your next and last unit exam will be January 10th.

Bio 30- Your reproduction quiz is Monday so please spend some time studying this weekend. We will spend next week learning about cell division!! The video we watched today has been added to my youtube channel. Just follow the link to the right if you missed it or need to see it again. It is excellent review for your quiz as well as a good intro to the next portion of the unit.

Sci 90- Your reproduction exam will be Thursday December 19th right before break so we can go away with no homework. We will spend the rest of next week getting ready for that.

Weekend Update
November 29, 2013.

Bio 20- No homework! We will finish the squid dissection question on Monday and move onto Arthropods.

Bio 30- Begin studying for your exam. Exam date is Wednesday December 4, 2013. Interactive Notebooks are due this day as well.

Science 90- Finish your readings and questions on Cancer from the text book. Monday we will do the Microscope/Mitosis Lab.

Hi all!

Bio 20- Tomorrow we will be finishing our notes on phylum mollusca and then viewing a BBC Earth video on the creatures of the deep! We have a bit to finish still in this unit but your exam will be Tuesday December 10th if you would like to start preparing! The exam will cover all invertebrates so Phylum Porifera to Phylum Echinodermata.

Bio 30- Tomorrow we will look at the synapses that form between neurons and how neurons will chemically communicate with each other. On Thursday we will be finishing the last topic in the Nervous System which is nerve transmissions. Your unit exam that covers both the endocrine system and the nervous system is Wednesday December 4th.

Sci 90- Your electricity exam is tomorrow. As you are studying tonight be sire to focus on the outline I gave you last week as it will help you narrow down your studying. A reminder that your Interactive Notebook is due tomorrow as well.

November 14th, 2013

Bio20- Tomorrow we will continue our look at Phylum Platyhelminthes. There is no homework specifically, but I have the notes up in the link to the right as well as the video if you want to view it again.

Bio 30- Exam is tomorrow and INs are due tomorrow. Please don't worry too much about the practice test. Your outline that I gave you earlier in the week is specific to the test and will help guide your studying as I wrote that outline while looking directly at your test. A lot of the questions are about the structures specifically and what they do. I would also focus your studying on putting the major events in order, especially for things like the breathing cycle and the heart beat cycle. Remember that you will have a choice in which written response you want to do so you can prepare and answer the one you know best. One question will be about the circulatory system and the heart, the other is about the respiratory system and the lungs. Take a deep breath and don't panic.

Sci 90- Please make sure your assignment on batteries is completed for tomorrow, we will also go through the work from Wednesday tomorrow. I have posted your power point notes to this blog now. Just click on the link to the right and it will take you to my Google drive. You can read through the notes or print any if you miss a day of class.

Bio 20- Excellent work today guys on the 2 first phyla in the animal kingdom. Tomorrow we begin the 3rd phylum, Platyhelminthes.

Bio 30- Also very good work today ladies and gentleman. Please make sure to have all your worksheets done for tomorrow. I will have practice multiple choice for you tomorrow. Test is Friday, IN is due Friday!

Sci 90- You have your worksheet and questions from the text to do about Voltage/Current/Resistance. Tomorrow we will finish of chapter 7.1

Bio 20- Continue working on all INs and text assignments as this will build up quickly this unit.

Bio 30- Your exam date has been changed to Friday, please bring questions for review tomorrow. Tomorrow will be your last opportunity for work and questions in class before we move on to the next unit. Feel free to review any videos in the link to the right.

Science 90- We wrapped up chapter 8.1 today and moved on to Chapter 7.1. If you want to see the Bill Nye Video again follow the link to the right.

Hello and yay for long weekends!! There shouldn't be too terribly much homework for you all, but here are just a few reminders.

Bio 20- We have finished the first group of animals now, Phylum Porifera. All notes and videos are posted and you can find them by following the links to the right. Please have your text assignment for Phylum Porifera done for Tuesday so we can take it up. Keep up with your interactive notebooks too!

Bio 30- We have finished all the body systems that will be covered on your exam this coming Thursday, November 14th. On Tuesday we will do a little more work on the immune system to sort it all out and we will have time for work and review. Please consider beginning your studying this weekend.

Science 90- We have finished our wind turbine inquiry. Please have your good copy ready to hand in on Tuesday as well as the work for the rest of chapter 8.1 done.

Hi all! Let's re-cap this week and make sure everyone is up to date.

Bio 20- If you didn't hand in your IN with your exam on Tuesday please make sure I get it. Notes for the Animal Kingdom Intro have been posted as well as the video. We will finish Phylum Porifera tomorrow.

Bio 30-Notes for the circulatory system have been posted as well as the videos. We will do the immune system tomorrow and should be finished all the notes Monday. Your exam will be Thursday November14th.

Science 90-Good work on your wind turbines. We will do the good copy and write up for the lab tomorrow.

Hi Everyone. My apologies for not posting last week. Things were very hectic with parent teacher interviews. So let's get all caught up this week...

Bio 20-As of today we are finished all the notes for Unit 2. I have uploaded all the notes for the unit so if you are missing any of them or simply want to look them over you can follow the link to the right of this post and find everything you need for the unit. We will have some time for review tomorrow and even Thursday if we need it. Unit 2 Exam is Tuesday November 5, 2013.

Bio 30- We are now into our 3rd unit "Human Body Systems". We wrapped up all of Digestion today and will be looking at the Respiratory System tomorrow. Notes have been uploaded and videos added to the playlist on youtube.

Science 90- We finished chapter 6 today in class. Your quiz will be on Thursday. We are now beginning our wind turbine inquiry and this should take us into next week.

October 16th

Bio 20- Virus models and research were due today. Those of you that were not prepared to hand in this assignment today need to have it done for tomorrow. Interactive Notebooks and the bacteria lab are now past due. It is your responsibility to have them handed in now.

We will continue with our live specimens tomorrow and our examination of the Protist Kingdom.

Bio 30- We finished the notes on Cellular Respiration today. Tomorrow will look at both Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration and do some comparison and summary. Your exam will be Tuesday Oct. 22.

Science 90- Your unit 1 Exam is tomorrow. Study, study, study!!

Yay, short school week! Happy Tuesday everyone. Here is what happened at school today.

Bio 20- We began our look at the Protists. Notes and Videos can all be found in the links to the right. Hopefully our live specimens will arrive tomorrow and we can have a look at them.

Bio 30- We began our look at Cellular Respiration. Notes and Videos can all be found in the links to the right. We will finish off this topic tomorrow and begin our review as the exam is fast approaching for next Tuesday October 22nd.

Science 90- We worked to finish Interactive Notebooks and Review Questions from the text. Your exam is Thursday. Please consider making a study guide from the outline I put on the board today in class. Your Interactive Notebooks will also be due on Thursday.

Well the long weekend is finally here. Yay!! I love thanksgiving and getting together with family. I wish all my students out there a wonderful thanksgiving and a restful long weekend. You shouldn't have too much homework form me, but here a few reminders just in case.

Bio 20- Those of you who missed today will need to have your lab done and ready to hand in on Tuesday. Your Interactive Notebooks are also due. Your Virus Model and Research are due on Wednesday after the long weekend.

Bio 30- Study and review Photosynthesis. Your exam will be Tuesday October 22nd. We will begin Cellular Respiration on Tuesday after the long weekend.

Science 90- After the quiz today I assigned #1 on page 199 as Interactive Notebook #9. This will be the last entry for this unit. If you have some time this weekend please start studying and reviewing all of Unit 1. I will have an outline for you on Tuesday and you will have your Unit 1 Exam on Thursday after the long weekend.

Good afternoon students! Only 2 more days until the long weekend!!

Bio 20- Tomorrow we will continue working on both the lab and the virus questions. Remember to keep up with your Virus Research and Model as it will be due after the long weekend on Wednesday October 16th. Also remember your IN is due this Friday!!

Bio 30- No homework but I srtongly suggest you spend some time going over all of photosynthesis. It's pretty big and complex so really try to make sense of it all for yourself. Feel free to look over the whole powerpoint again or re-watch some of the videos. Tomorrow we will begin Cellular Respiration.

Science 90- You now have your outline for the quiz on Friday so make sure you prepare and focus your studying. Questions 1-12 on page 194 are due tomorrow. The unit exam qill be Thursday October 17th.

Hello Students. Sorry there was no post yesterday, I was having issues with the internet at school. I'll try and cover everything for yesterday and for today in this post.

Bio 20- We started the Virus research today. The Model and the paper will both be due on Wednesday October 16th. You will have to finish this project at home now as today was your only class time to work on it. Interactive Notebooks are due on Friday!! Check the list on the front board to make sure you are all caught up.

Bio 30- Yesterday we looked at the Chloroplast as the main structure involved in photosynthesis. The assignment was as follows:

IN #4 Draw and label a Chloroplast. Label Thylakoid, Grana and Stroma, Read Pg 339-343, #1-5 pg 343

Today we saw the chemistry involved in the light reactions. The assignment is as follows:

IN #5 Draw a diagram to summarize the events of the light dependent reactions. Include locations and labels.

 

Sci 90- Yesterday we continued work on the periodic table. We are now done Chapter 5 and Unit 1. We will have a chapter 5 quiz on Friday Oct 10th and the Exam will be Thursday Oct 17th.

Sorry I was away yesterday and there was no post. Let's get all caught up today...

Bio 20- The due date for your bacteria worksheet is now Friday October 4th. Sorry for the confusion yesterday. We will finish the notes on bacteria tomorrow and do a lab this week.

Bio 30- We are beginning photosynthesis later this week. Its a big topic. I will keep you updated with dates as there will likely be a quiz very soon.

Sci 90- Your element research was due today, but since I wasn't there to remind you yesterday I will also accept them tomorrow if you forgot. We are continuing with Chapter 5.3 today and are almost at the end of chapter 5 so expect a quiz and the unit exam very soon. We will set dates in class.

Major reminder for all students today...STUDY!!!

Bio 20-Your exam is tomorrow! I hope you are all feeling ready and confident about the material. I promised a hint for all of you that would check the blog today so here it is...You must be able to label an plant cell! Study your handout I gave you where you had to label both cells. The definitions of all the parts on the right hand side of that same handout are also very helpful and should be studied!

Bio 30- Please continue working on your interactive notebooks, #5 is so important!! Remember I will be going through a review powerpoint with you tomorrow as well as giving you a review handout and some practice multiple choice questions. Exam is Wednesday now, you absolutely have to be ready! I promised a hint for those of you who would be checking the blog so here it is...The written response question is about enzymes!

Science 90- Your final draft of your inquiry lab is due tomorrow. Thank you to all of you who handed it in today. Your chapter 4 quiz is Wednesday, and I will be taking in your interactive notebooks on Thursday. There are a lot of due dates this week so make sure to keep up with all the work and work hard both in class and at home!

Weekend Homework September 20th

Bio 20- Finish all reading assignments on Evolution. Finish all Interactive Notebook activities (5 in total). Study for Unit 1 Exam, see the review handout I gave you today in class. You will also have time to work on this Monday in class. Exam and IN due date is Tuesday September 24th.

Bio 30- Study for Unit 1 Exam. Finish Interactive Notebook entry #5 (concept map). Exam and IN due date is Tuesday September 24th. The outline for the exam is as follows:

15 Multiple Choice
9 Short Answer
1 Written Response

You need to know the 4 categories of organic molecules, their functions, structure (including sub-units), examples, dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis for all categories, and enzymes and how they work. Your concept map (IN #5) is the best study tool you have. The more detail you can add to it, the better you will have prepared for the exam!

Scie 90- Finish Inquiry Lab report. Due date is Tuesday September 24th. Finish Chapter 4 Review Questions; page 146 #3,4,8,9,13,14,16,17,21. Due date is Monday September 23rd. Chapter 4 Quiz will be Wednesday September 25th.

Hi Guys. Sorry I am still sorting this whole thing out and trying to learn how to put my power point notes up on the blog. I am going to ask Ms. Duggleby (she is far better at this than me!) to help me tomorrow and then they should all be there for the Bio 30 and Bio 20 students.

That being said there are still a few reminders for you all so here we go!

Bio 20- Unit 1 Exam will be Tuesday September 24th. We will finish with microscopes tomorrow, take a quick look at evolution on Friday and spend all of Monday's class reviewing. I will have an outline and review for you Friday so you can study over the weekend.

Bio 30- Interactive Notebooks are due Friday. It is absolutely essential you have them ready to be handed in so I can I can get them back to you before your exam which is Tuesday September 24th. Tomorrow we will begin the review after your quiz and Friday we will do a lab. Monday will be spent reviewing as well.

Hi Students!

Well it has been over a week now since we've been back at school, and as promised here is your first blog post for the Fall Semester 2013.

I have still needing to get permission to download files on the school network so for now please see me if you require any notes that you may have missed during an absence.

Bio 20- Your interactive notebooks are due for the first time on Monday September 16. Please make sure your "What is Biology?"and "Prefixes and Suffixes" assignments are done. You will have one more assignment to add before Monday and I will let you know about this either tomorrow or Friday.
